Maybe work isn't as thrilling as we'd like, and with the sunny season on its way out for the southern hemisphere, many of us are tempted to extend our summer with trips overseas. So heres a quick start on finding that exotic windsurfing location where you can spend the winter months in sunshine.

Being based in the South pacific does have its good points like clean environments and not too many crowds, but international travel can be a pain as we're just so damn far away from everywhere. One thing in our favour though, is that some of the most exotic and best windsurfing spots in the world aren't on the other side of the world, instead they're in our own backyard. Travel within the south pacific region is reasonably affordable and it can take you to epic locations from Western Australia to Central America. There are thousands of spots to travel to and we'll point you to a few of the main ones as a starter. OK, hopefully that's got you thinking. where do you go and what should you do first. Probably the best place to start is to start doing a bit of research by jumping online and asking a few questions.

Western Australia.
Probably the best known state of Australia for windsurfing. The area has some world class locations that get great wind and good surf, and the area is held in good regard by some of the worlds best sailors. Perth is the main city in the area with some great spots close by. Further up the coast however you can find the more hard core spots of Gnarloo and Margret River just to name a few.

Pacific Islands.
Wide and varied locations are through out the Pacific islands. From New Caledonia to to Fiji and Tonga, the pacific islands offer a huge number of islands destinations and cultures. The following sites should be looked at before deciding where to travel as conditions can vary with the seasons.

Hawaii
No winter travel list would be complete without the islands of Hawaii. Consistent wind and surf with warm water make Maui make the windsurfing Mecca of the world. Maui offers great conditions suitable for beginners at Kanaha right through to the pro levels at Ho'okipa and Jaws. Although Maui often grabs the media spotlight, the other islands of Hawaii also have some great locations. The island of Oahu, although not as windy as Maui does get good conditions with spots like Diamond Head offering great sailing.

Southeast Asia
Not generally known for its epic windsurfing locations, the area is crawling with great surf and awesome tourism. Recently however there have been some spots with good wind and surf found amongst the Indonesian islands, they're not widely publicised but the do exist, if you're willing to do some research and travel you could score it big.

Southern California/Mexico/ South America
